You gotta just roll with the punches [November 3rd, 2009 @ 6:20pm]
[ mood | busy ]
[ music | Sarah Blasko - Perfect Now ]

This space of mine has been neglected long enough. Things have been crazy (good and bad) since the last time I blogged. ICN 2009 was awesome, BKK was awesome. I met the most amazing, smart and humble group of people ever. Meeting them really made an impact. I realised things (life lessons kinda things) during that trip. Then came the high-level Dutch delegation visit to Singapore in the third week of October. I was really really excited to do that. The PS student in me was squealing with joy and excitement when I first saw the Dutch PM, H.E. Dr. Jan Peter Balkenende (I can spell his name without checking online - the result of writing many media invites and press release) and H.E. Mrs. Maria van der Hoeven (Minister for Economic Affairs). At the end of the visit, I managed two words from the PM himself. Ok so it was once word repeated twice! Haha he looked at me, smiled and said BYE BYE. How many people can say, The Ducth PM said bye bye to me! Haha bare with me, I am a PS graduate. And from what I heard, Dr. Balkenende is set to be the 1st President of the EU.

Celebrated Zav's birthday at his old place (which turned out to be haunted! Another story for another post) on the 17th after which we went clubbing. Partied til 7am and crashed for the rest of the day! Lucky man got three celebrations -- one with the HKmuners at Chjimes, a surprise party at my place on 23rd at midnight (which Pam helped plan) and dinner at Brazil Churrasco on Sixth Avenue with Jae, Gav and Shaf. Neglected a few friendships here and there but all is forgiven (I hope). Met up with BFFs on the 16th (I think) for Maya's birthday and over the weekend. Planning to meet the Bimbos this Sat. Slowly getting my social life back. Spent Halloween with Ida and Shaf chilling at Outdoors after shopping at Mustafa :)

So much has happened and I've learned so much over the course of the month. Life lesson #1: Never judge a person until you've met them and spent time with them (though there are exceptions, trust me plenty of exceptions) -- this lesson was learnt as I developed unexpected an friendship with Ida (I didn't use to like her) and Shaf. Life lesson #2 is that you learn something new everyday - how to be a better person, how "my way or the highway" isn't the only way, how to cope when someone scolds you and you can't fight back, how to love your bf even though he can be an asshole, how to cope when your bf is right even though you'd hate to admit it and how to be a nicer person. Life Lesson #3: Que Sera Sera .. Whatever will be will be.

I don't know how to end this post properly -- mostly because I'm in a rush and because I have nothing else to say. Nways if you're reading this -- I hope you have fun traveling the world lil sis. I love and miss you so much every day. Take care and enjoy life. Don't forget to call or text when you can. Xoxoxoxo.

Have a good week ahead everyone!

[ music | The Script - The End Where I Begin ]

In my mind, I have this image of how and when I would travel the world; the places I would see, the things I would do and the people I would meet. Sitting in an obscure cafe in Boston, taking the train through Europe, backpacking through Australia and India - the whole works. All it takes is a lot of hard work and spending/saving smart and I know my traveling dreams can and will come true. Its just that, I cannot wait for that day to come.

Been A Long Time Coming [September 15th, 2009 @ 10:57pm]
[ mood | calm ]
[ music | Keane - Try Again ]

About two weeks ago, in all sense of the phrase, "on the job training" I was asked by my boss to attend a media party for an event that our comoany was doing PR for. It was easy enough, whatever my boss wanted, I did. Registration, handing out media kits, directing guests to the loo. I got to meet many different people which is always very exciting. But there was one person whom I met that really made my night. To my surprise and great pleasure, my boss introduced me to the director of L.A.M.C Productions, Ross Knudson. She asked him if he had anything big lined up, to which he replied, "We had Gaga and Keane." OH BOY YOU SHOULD HAVE SEEN MY FACE LIGHT UP. I was like, "Keane? As in the band Keane?" He probably doesn't remember be but what do I care, I got to have a conversation with a man who spoke to Keane DIRECTLY. I am literally two degrees away from the band !!!!!!!!!! He told my boss and I how nice, friendly and tall the guys were. I literally couldn't stop smiling. We both agreed that their concert was absolutely fantastic and it was a waste that my boss couldn't attend.

Anyways, I've been meaning to write about my concert experience but I've been so busy and tired of late. My friends are probably sick of me saying it but I'll say it again. Keane was one of the best concerts I've ever been to. Even Zav agreed and mind you, he doesn't even like the band. The concert started off really well unlike a certain one the night before *cough-Gaga-cough* (that is a different story which I will tell another day). There was a local band and a french band; the latter being the opening act for Keane's tour. They lead singer, Cyril Niccolai, was really hott and he sounded a little like  Bon Jovi. Both bands were really good.

Keane started playing around 9 and omg I went apeshit. I couldn't stop screaming and jumping. First of all, they looked so good! They were dressed nicely in their flannel shirts and jeans, typical Brit attire I suppose, and I had a good view of the whole stage. Tom Chaplin, Richard Hughes and Tim Rice-Oxley seriously have my heart. Heeheee! Tom sang live and omg was it absolutely brilliant and fucking fantastic. The setlist was as awesome as awesome gets. Since it was their first time in Singapore, they played a good mix of songs from all their albums, which I own .. ALL THREE !!!! So of course I knew the lyrics to all the songs they played. I was crying when they played songs from their debut album, Hopes and Fears. I literally grew up listening to that LP; on One Tree Hill no less! :) I couldn't contain myself.

The best part was how genuienly surprised the band sounded when the crowd knew most of the lyrics. They were like, "It's amazing to see how you guys love our music even though you're a hundred miles away from London!" Sigh! So sweet right. They probably say  that to all their fans but whatevs! I'm so buying it! Haha! So, they scored on singing LIVE and their energy and presence on stage. What really pulled everything together was the light show that accompanied their concert. They co-ordinated their songs with their lights and omg what a difference it made. It made the show more enjoyable. It was a wonderful spectacle. The whole concert was well planned and brilliantly executed. All biasness aside, please! :)

With that said, their concert was worth the S$103 I paid and when I can afford it, I'm gonna head down to the UK and watch their performances at different music festivals. It was a nice surprise to see so many Keane fans in Singapore. The band doesn't get as much play time on the radio as they deserve. Most Singaporeans have a different view on what they call, "good music". If you ever have the time, just listen to their music. It'd really blow you away - the lyrics, the instrumental, their melodies.

Keane totally rocked and you shoould take my word for it :) Anyways, to end it all off, below are some pics I took at Keane's concert about a month ago. Enjoy!

Their encore was a remake of the song, "Under Pressure" and holy crap it was good! The drummer, Richard Hughes wore the same shirt from the Perfect Symmetry album. Yes, I noticed :)

My fucking happy face! Got to take a picture of the set list!

I wonder if The Kooks will ever come to Singapore. I'd totally flip if they did!
